Mad Catz has inked a deal with UK-based budget supermarket chain and Wal-Mart subsidiary ASDA. Though the agreement is nonexclusive, Mad Catz will be deemed the preferred supplier of game peripherals and accessories for the retailer, which deals in groceries, clothing, home, leisure, and entertainment goods. Mad Catz has maintained a similar agreement with Wal-Mart in North America since 1996.
Among the products ASDA will carry are controllers, cables, and game accessories for the Game Cube, GBA, PS2, and Xbox, notably, according to Mad Catz, the Dual Force 2 Pro PS2 and the Beat Pad dancing accessory.
Said Mike Sale, director of sales for Mad Catz Europe, "The long-standing union between Wal-Mart and Mad Catz in the US has proven very successful, and with the expansion into Europe with ASDA, this allows Mad Catz to continue to bolster our European strategy while strengthening our presence as a major supplier in Europe."
