Control Shows Off a Full Creepy Side Mission and Challenging Boss Battle-September 2024
Sep 22, 2024 1:37 AM

Remedy Entertainment promises their new game Control will have a complex, interconnected world with plenty of opportunities for exploration and side missions, but, until now, we haven’t really seen how any of that will work. Thankfully, the folks at IGN have released footage of a full runthrough of one of the game’s side missions, which reveals a lot about what Control’s minute-to-minute gameplay will be like.

The mission sees main protagonist Jesse Faden searching an area overgrown with strange alien plant life for a series of unique fungus samples. Unfortunately, the area is also home to grotesque “mold people” and a giant plant boss. You can check out the full mission, below.

Looking pretty solid! This mission is definitely very Resident-Evil-inspired, which is a good thing in my book. The cutscenes and dialogue are a bit stiff, but again, this is a side mission. As we’ve already seen, the cutscenes for the core story missions are much more impressive. Want to know more about Control? You can check out Wccftech’s exclusive interviews with the game’s developers here and here, and can check out an official synopsis, below.

Set in a unique and ever-changing world that juxtaposes our familiar reality with the strange and unexplainable, Control is a third-person action-adventure game combining Remedy’s trademark gunplay with supernatural abilities.

After a secretive agency in New York is invaded by an otherworldly threat, players will take on the role of Jesse Faden, the new Director struggling to regain Control. This sandbox-style, gameplay-driven experience built on the proprietary Northlight engine challenges players to master a combination of supernatural abilities, modifiable loadouts and reactive environments while fighting through the deep and mysterious worlds Remedy is known and loved for.

Control hovers onto PC, Xbox One, and PS4 on August 27. You can check out the game’s PC system requirements here.
