Colourful Birds Of Prey Posters Showcase The DC Movie's Characters-October 2024
Oct 17, 2024 1:27 PM

The phenomenal success of Joker has meant that DC has ended 2019 on a high note, and the studio's luck looks set to continue into 2020. The first DC movie to hit theaters next year will be Birds of Prey, which sees Margot Robbie reprise her Suicide Squad role as Harley Quinn. The movie's opening scenes were shown to lucky fans at Comic-Con Brazil this week, and now some new character posters have been released.

The posters were tweeted by the official Birds of Prey Twitter account. They are all illustrated in the same colorful, comic book style and showcase the movie's main characters.

Birds of Prey--or to give it the full title, Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)--releases on February 7, 2020. The first trailer was released in October, and for more, check out GameSpot's guide to everything we know so far about Birds of Prey. In addition, the Harley Quinn animated series is also now available in DC Universe--read GameSpot's review here.

Birds of Prey is directed by Cathy Yan. This will be Yan's second movie, following her acclaimed 2018 drama Dead Pigs, and she is the first Asian woman to helm a US superhero movie. In an interview with Deadline, Yan spoke about why she was the right person for the job. "I immediately loved the script and it felt like something I could really do," she said. "It felt very much like my own voice. I could not put the script down, it had so much dark humor to it which a lot of my work does, and there are themes of female empowerment which are so strong and relatable."

While Harley was introduced to the DC movie universe in Suicide Squad, she won't be in James Gunn's Suicide Squad reboot movie, which is currently in production. That's due in August 2021, and will be proceeded in June that year by the hugely anticipated The Batman, which will be directed by Matt Reeves and starring Robert Pattinson. There's been quite a bit of casting news for The Batman recently, including Colin Farrell as Penguin, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as Riddler, and Andy Serkis as Alfred.
