Collision gets rights to Max Payne-November 2024
Nov 29, 2024 11:30 PM

Collision Entertainment, a company headed by Scott Faye and Paul Rosenberg, has announced that it has acquired the film and television rights to the gritty third-person shooter Max Payne, which was released last month by GodGames. The film and TV adaptations of the game will be distributed in North America by Dimension Films, and Abandon Entertainment will handle international distribution. No release date or further information about the upcoming adaptations has been revealed.

Max Payne is set in the seedy underworld of New York City. Players assume the role of an undercover agent on a mission to stop the Mafia from distributing a dangerous new drug. The game borrows cinematic elements from popular Hollywood action films, and its character and story will now serve as the inspiration for a new film.

"We are excited to have the opportunity to craft the next successful video game icon into a larger-than-life film icon," Faye said. "We are extremely fortunate to have a great creative partnership on this project with the game's creators, 3D Realms and Remedy Entertainment. We hope this will be the first of many creative collaborations."

Max Payne was developed by Remedy Entertainment and 3D Realms. For more information, read our in-depth review of the game.
