Oscar-winning actor and director Clint Eastwood's latest movie, Cry Macho, now has its first trailer. The Warner Bros. movie stars Eastwood, 91, as a former rodeo star who accepts a job to bring a young man home from Mexico. The journey they go on together seems to be the heart of the story.
"Forced to take the backroads on their way to Texas, the unlikely pair faces an unexpectedly challenging journey, during which the world-weary horseman finds unexpected connections and his own sense of redemption," reads a line from the movie's description.
Eduardo Minett plays the boy, Rafo, in what is his feature film debut. The movie also features Natalia Traven (Soulmates), Dwight Yoakam (Logan Lucky), Fernanda Urrejola (Narcos: Mexico), and Horacio Garcia-Rojas (Narcos: Mexico).
Eastwood directed the movie, which is based on the N. Richard Nash novel of the same name. Nick Schenk--who also wrote Eastwood's Gran Torino and The Mule--wrote the screenplay with Nash.
Some of the other talent that worked on the movie includes director of photography Ben Davis (Captain Marvel, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri), editor Joel Cox (Unforgiven), and production designer Ron Reiss (The Mule). The music was done by Moana's Mark Mancina.
Cry Macho opens in theaters and comes to HBO Max day-and-date on September 17. This plan is changing in 2022, as WB's movies will no longer debut on HBO Max but will instead play in theaters for 45 days.
