In 1976, the Grand Prix Nurburgring Track in Germany was closed after a race where Grand Prix World Champion Niki Lauda was nearly burned to death after a crash in the Bergwick section of the 14.2-mile track. During its heyday the Nurburgring Track was considered to be the most dangerous in the Grand Prix competition.
Now Papyrus, the creator of NASCAR Racing 2 and Indycar Racing, has announced that the Nurburgring will be featured in its upcoming Grand Prix Legends, a racing simulation based on the 1967 Grand Prix Season.
The Nurburgring track was the most complex permanent-use racetrack created, with 174 corners and many elevation changes where drivers can easily become airborne.
Grand Prix Legends will include other historic tracks, including Spa, Kyalami, and Zandvoort. Famous drivers and teams will also be included.
To be published by Sierra Sports, Papyrus' Grand Prix Legends should be available in July.
