2K and Firaxis Games just released Civilization VI, the sixth main installment in the revered 4X (eXplore, eXpand, eXploit, and eXterminate) and turn-based strategy franchise.

　　There's a particularly nasty Civilization VI crash bug that causes the game to hang on for a long period of time while loading. Reddit user turdas discovered that this is caused by Windows Defender, which appears to be scanning the whole game in real time whenever Civilization Vi is launched.

　　To avoid this, you can whitelist the game within Windows Defender. On Windows 10, type Windows Defender Settings in the Start Menu. Scroll down until you see Exclusions and then Add an exclusion; you'll have to select the very last option, Exclude an .exe process, and then type CivilizationVI.exe. This should ensure that Windows Defender won't bother to scan the game anymore, thus preventing this particular Civilization VI crash bug.

　　Civilization VI became available on October 21st for Windows PC and October 24th, yesterday, on Mac OS X.
