Cities: Skylines Support is Finally Ending with the Sequel on the Way, Last DLC Packs Detailed-September 2024
Sep 20, 2024 11:32 AM

Last week Paradox Interactive and developer Colossal Order revealed Cities: Skylines II is finally on the way, which was certainly exciting news, but it begged the question – what will happen to the first Cities: Skylines? The original Cities: Skylines has a very dedicated fanbase and has received an exceptional amount of post-launch content, but it seems that’s finally coming to an end.

Today Paradox and Colossal Order announced that Cities: Skylines will be receiving its last DLC this spring and that active support of the game will likely wrap by the end of 2023. Cities: Skylines players can look forward a handful of final DLC packs made by top content creators – Africa in Miniature, Shopping Malls, Sports Venues, Industrial Evolution, Brooklyn & Queens, and Railroads of Japan are the six packs on the way. These content packs will be accompanied by a free “Hubs and Transport” update that will make final improvements to Skylines' transportation systems. Finally, a vacation-themed “mini-expansion” is also coming. You can check out the roadmap for the final Cities: Skylines DLC, below.

Here's a bit more detail about the new Cities: Skylines content packs launching this month…

Africa in Miniature: A new world of possibilities set in the African Continent. The first Content Creator Pack from long-time Cities fan, 3D Artist Setonji "Prince Set" Hotonu allows you to explore Africa’s exceptionally diverse architecture, vibrant colors, and unique urban mix. Africa In Miniature includes a total of 28 new buildings inspired by the existing urban masterpieces and unique architectural concepts.Sports Venues: Sports season never ends in this Content Creator Pack by community modder BadPeanut. From unique stadiums to community sports parks, this Content Creator Pack has everything you need to satisfy your City’s needs for sports! All large stadiums have realistic football, baseball, and American football animation - plus some new cool stats for you to look at.Shopping Malls: It’s time for some retail extravaganza! With the Content Creator Pack “Shopping Malls” by community modder KingLeno you can bring your shopping experience to the next level, adding a variety of shopping malls to your City. This content creator pack offers more than 60 assets, including department stores, shopping plazas, and fast food restaurants to populate your Shopping areas.Cities: Skylines can be played on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, and PS5, although updates come to PC first. The next content drop for the game arrives on March 22, with one more coming in May. Meanwhile, Cities: Skylines II launches sometime in 2023.
