Chrome Hounds E3 2005 First Look
Chrome Hounds E3 2005 First Look-October 2024
Oct 17, 2024 8:29 AM

We had a chance to sit in on Sega's Next-Gen Theater presentation at E3, and we saw a movie showcasing the squad-based mech combat game, Chrome Hounds, for the Xbox 360.

The short clip showed a deserted town filled with decrepit buildings and abandoned vehicles. Then a large metal foot filled the screen and the view panned out to reveal a combat mech. There was a dialogue between two mechs on the same team, and then a short battle ensued as enemies moved in. One large mech hid behind a partially destroyed high-rise and aimed a gun through one of the vacant windows to set up an apparent ambush. There were different types of mechs in the game, but whether or not that will affect handling is still unknown. Each mech was roughly the size of a mid-rise apartment complex, and they had a more utilitarian design than the humanoid mechs from the Gundam or Virtual-On games.

The footage looked impressive, with detailed mechs and destructible landscapes. According to Sega, everything shown was in-game, although it could have easily passed as a prerendered cutscene. We'll keep you updated as we learn more about Chrome Hounds.
