Christian-themed game Call of Abraham aims to "stir hunger for God's word"-October 2024

Phoenix Interactive Studios today launched a Kickstarter campaign for Christian-themed single-player PC RPG called Bible Chronicles: Call of Abraham, a new game that aims to "stir hunger for God's word."

In the game, you don't play as Abraham himself, but rather a fictional member of his caravan who embarks on an adventure that culminates in the Battle of Siddim. Throughout the game, players will journey through ancient cities like Hebron, Ur, and Memphis.

The game will also depict one of the most well-known Bible stories concerning Abraham, when he was commanded by God to kill his son Isaac only to be stopped at the last second by an angel of the Lord.

According to Phoenix Interactive Studios, keeping true to the Bible for Call of Abraham was very important. To that end, the developers formed an advisory group of local pastors and ministry leaders who made sure what was represented in the game did not stray from Biblical writing.

"We're using Kickstarter to realize our vision, and that's to put a copy of this game--Bible Chronicles: Call of Abraham--into every Christian home that's out there," designer Martin Bertram said. "Our hope is that this game will stir hunger for God's word in everyone that plays this game."

If you've read the Bible, you know the text is replete with violence. In Call of Abraham, violent acts can only be pursued if they are honorable, developers said. What's more, when there is a "better" alternative to violence, players will be rewarded for finding and choosing it.

If Call of Abraham receives the $100,000 it's looking for on Kickstarter, the game will launch around Thanksgiving 2014. Right now, the game is in development only for PC, but "Xbox" and "PlayStation" versions will be released if funding hits $250,000.
