Christian Bale's Kids Convinced Him To Join Thor: Love And Thunder-October 2024
Oct 18, 2024 9:37 PM

Oscar-winning actor Christian Bale plays the main villain in Thor: Love and Thunder, which hits theaters today, and now Bale has revealed that it was his children who convinced him to sign on.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, the Oscar winner said Thor: Love and Thunder was the first project that his children ever got excited about.

"My kids have never really shown any interest in anything I've ever done," Bale said. "And this was the first film ever. I wasn't certain I would be able to do it, and they went to me [and said], 'No, you're doing this film.' They absolutely insisted on it. So I took their marching orders and said yes, definitely."

Christian Bale's kids may be to thank for his involvement in #ThorLoveAndThunder.

Bale is no stranger to comic book movies, of course, as he starred in Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy. He makes his MCU debut with Love and Thunder, and he said in another interview that he is open to coming back for another comic book film if it has the right story and director. He's also said he might play Batman again if Nolan returns as director.

Also in EW's interview, Jane Foster actress Natalie Portman said one of Love and Thunder's "most visually beautiful scenes" she's ever seen in a movie was filmed at a Best Buy parking lot.

"It's so wild to be on this size of movie, and we were literally in a parking lot with a blue screen, doing this really dramatic thing. It looks so stunning on film, but every time I see it, I'm like, 'That's a Best Buy parking lot.'"

Thor: Love and Thunder picks up after the events of Avengers: Endgame, with Thor having an existential crisis and seeking inner peace before getting pulled back into the fight against Bale's Gorr the God Butcher. Bale revealed in an interview that a scene involving his character and self-mutilation was deemed "too extreme" for a family-friendly movie, so it was cut.
