"China's mobile subscribers will grow to 386 million subscribers by the end of 2005, rising to 580 million by the end of 2010," says Nidhir Maudgalya, a telecommunications analyst with European media company Visiongain. This forecast comes as part of a study, released today, on the penetration of Internet access and mobile phone use in China. According to the study, subscribers will be divided among China's four government-approved mobile service providers: China Mobile, China Unicom, China Telecom, and China Netcom. The study also states that Internet access in China will continue to lag behind the penetration of mobile phone use. It also explores the increased role China will play in the future as a phone manufacturing and purchasing hub.
