Carmageddon: Reincarnation successfully funded-October 2024
Oct 23, 2024 6:34 PM

Stainless Games has reached its Kickstarter campaign target of $400,000 for Carmageddon: Reincarnation and still has seven days to go. The project, a reboot of the firm's long-running franchise that started with 1997's Carmageddon, has been successfully funded with nearly 12,000 backers pledging money towards the project.

Carmageddon looks to hit the streets again in 2013. The campaign will continue until June 16 with the team at Stainless Games now hoping to reach $600,000. Carmageddon: Reincarnation joins other successfully funded Kickstarter projects such as Al Lowe's Leisure Suit Larry remake, Harebrained Schemes' Shadowrun Returns, Stotics' The Banner Saga, and Double Fine's adventure-game project.

Stainless Games originally announced the project back in June 2011. The firm later revealed that the developers were funding the game themselves while looking for an investment partner. In the project's Kickstarter campaign video, co-founder Neil Barnden said that the company had already contributed in excess of $300,000 towards the project and that the firm was now seeking crowd-sourced funding due to the demonstrated success of Kickstarter connecting gamers with developers.

Carmageddon: Reincarnation is currently being developed only for the PC, but according to the game's Kickstarter page, Mac and Linux versions of the game will be produced if the Kickstarter figure reaches the new goal of $600,000. Now that the project is completely funded, Stainless Games has stated that Carmageddon: Reincarnation is planned for a Q1 2013 release.
