Capcom To Shame Street Fighter V Rage Quitters By Branding Them-October 2024
Oct 20, 2024 8:41 AM

Street Fighter V rage quitters beware! It appears that Capcom will be publically shaming those who leave matches prematurely.

Capcom’s fighting title has suffered from rage quitting players ever since the game launched earlier this year and the publisher already stated that it will address the issues back in April of this year. Some months ago, Capcom finally updated the game with a rage quitting penalty to prevent players from leaving matches early on.

Judging from a new Steam beta build, Capcom will further expand its rage quitting system by publically branding rage quitters’ profiles. Street Fighter V 'test200' branch was added to the test depot recently but it seems that Capcom initially failed to password-project the branch. Neogaf user “Moaradin” managed to grab some screenshots from the new build’s menu pictures and it appears that the beta branch will include icons identifying rage-quitters alongside some other improvements.

Apparently, those who leave matches prematurely will receive a skull icon on their profile. Those who never rage quit will have an icon of their own as well,  making it easier for players with the same icon to fight each other.

Street Fighter V was officially announced in 2014 for both PC and PS4.

“Throughout all of our discussions with Sony Computer Entertainment, it is clear that we share a mutual belief that the fighting genre has a huge opportunity for growth,” said Matt Dahlgren, Capcom’s Associate Director of Brand Marketing and eSports. “The announcement today is just the first step, of many, in creating the next generation Street Fighter experience our fans have been asking for.”

“Partnering with Capcom to deliver one of the most popular video game franchises of all time as a console exclusive to our PlayStation family is a huge undertaking and an honor we take incredibly seriously,” said Adam Boyes, VP of Publisher & Developer Relations at Sony Computer Entertainment America. “We can’t wait to show Street Fighter and PlayStation fans what we have in store for them.”
