Capcom Japan reported its consolidated earnings for the six-month period ending September 30, 2004. Net sales of 28.5 billion yen ($275 million) were up 27.1 percent compared to the same six-month period a year ago. Citing strong sales in Japan of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City for the PlayStation 2, as well as GBA sales of Mega Man Zero 3 and Mega Man Battle Network 4, the company said operating income rose by 3.6 percent to 1.8 billion yen ($17 million), and ordinary income climbed 5.4 percent to 1.5 billion yen, or $14 million. In a statement, the company said, "In overseas markets, both Mega Man Anniversary Collection for PS2 and GameCube, and Mega Man Battle Network 4 for GBA, had healthy sales, supported by the robust US market." Capcom also cited "brisk" sales of Resident Evil Outbreak for the PS2 and strong revenues from its lineup of value-priced software as contributing to the profitable six-month period.
