The release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is still more than a couple of weeks away, but Activision and developer Infinity Ward have just released a launch trailer for the game. It mostly focuses on the game’s single-player campaign, but don’t expect a lot of talking heads discussing the moral complexities of war in the 21st century. Activision has promised a return to the edgier storytelling of earlier Modern Warfare games, but this trailer is all action, delivering plenty of shock and awe, as well as a glimpse at some of the game’s vehicles and what appears to be guys in heavily-armed exosuits. Oh, and this is all set to “Enter the Sandman” by Metallica – for better or worse, old-school CoD is back. Check out the trailer, below.
Haven’t been keeping up with the new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare? Here’s how Activision describes the game’s story:
When the world is threatened, you’ll have to get your hands dirty so the world stays clean. In a desperate mission, Captain Price and the SAS will partner alongside the CIA and the Urzikstani Liberation Force to retrieve stolen chemical weapons. The heart-racing fight will take you from London to the Middle East and other global locations, as this joint task force battles to stop full-scale global war. Lines will be drawn, your resolve will be tested, and the world will look to you to do what needs to be done.
You can expect new info about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare this week, as Activision has promised details about the game’s Special Ops co-op modes. We know Survival Mode will be PS4 exclusive for a year, but otherwise, details on Spec Ops have been scant, so it will be interesting to see what’s in store.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare storms onto PC, Xbox One, and PS4 on October 25.
