Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III Zombies, New Cutthroat Mode, and Warzone Map Revealed-November 2024
Nov 28, 2024 6:59 PM

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III arrives in a bit over a month, and Activision has fully unveiled the game’s entire multiplayer suite. Earlier this week we got a peek at the game’s traditional 6v6 multiplayer maps, and during today's big CODNext presentation, we got new details on Zombies, the Cutthroat 3v3v3 mode, new Warzone map, and more.

First, let’s talk about Zombies, which now takes place on a large open map, with a PvE Tarkov-like co-op extraction format. Rather than the traditional round-based structure, players will instead move to different zones within the map as the battle continues, with each zone ramping up the difficulty. That said, Zombies staples like story missions, perks, and plenty of Easter eggs will also be returning. You can check out a trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III Zombies, below.

“In this iteration of Zombies, there are enemies both undead and alive. The threat from the living arrives in the form of Terminus Outcomes, a private military company hired by Zakhaev as muscle. Led by one Jack Fletcher — the surviving soldier alongside Zakhaev at the end of the trailer — the PMC makes no judgment on their clients’ motives or ethics. If the money is good, the job is on. Veterans of the Dark Aether Zombies narrative will recognize the substance contained in the vials: Aetherium, now in a highly enriched state derived from processing vast amounts of the harvested crystalline form.

Combining the very best of Modern Warfare map features and systems with the tried-and-true core features of Treyarch Zombies, Modern Warfare Zombies presents an all-new twist on the fan-favorite third game mode, launching alongside the Campaign and Multiplayer when Modern Warfare III releases.”

In terms of modes, in addition to standards like 6v6 and Gun Fight, classics like Ground War and War (which are different things) return. There’s also the all-new Cutthroat mode, which serves up 3v3v3 battles on core multiplayer maps. The aim is simple – eliminate the other teams, but ever player only has one life, so you’ll have to watch your back.

Finally, on the Call of Duty: Warzone front, we're getting a new map, Urzikstan, which will replace the current main battle royale map Al Mazrah. The new map seems somewhat similar to past ones like Verdansk, although it looks a bit denser, with more buildings and structures. Meanwhile, the Ashika Island and Vondel Resurgence maps will continue to be playable. You can check out a quick overview trailer of the new Urzikstan Warzone map, below.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III’s early access PlayStation beta kicks off this weekend (October 6). You can get the lowdown on all the open-beta times for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC, as well as some more details about MWIII’s core 6v6 multiplayer experience, right here.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III hits PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, and PS5 on November 10. The new Zombies mode will launch alongside the game, while the Urzikstan Warzone map arrives alongside MWIII Season 1 in December.
