Call of Duty Breach Reveals Modern Warfare II/Warzone 2.0 Plans, Core 2023 CoD Referenced-September 2024
Sep 22, 2024 10:30 AM

It seems a Call of Duty data breach has revealed some of Activision’s plans 2023 plans for the franchise. The leak was first reported on by Twitter user vx-underground, and well-known Call of Duty insider Tom Henderson has been able to verify the legitimacy of the breach. Apparently, the info was obtained via a single Activision HR account via a phishing scheme, and did include some employee data, although the information shared by vx-underground omitted any sensitive personal data. No player data or information was compromised in the breach.

For our purposes, the most interesting thing about the breach is what it reveals about future Call of Duty plans. These are apparently the dates for seasons 3 through 6 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0.

Season 3 runs from March 15 to May 15Season 4 runs from May 15 to July 16Season 5 runs from July 17 to September 14Season 6 runs from September 15 to November 8Looking over the leaked info, it seems players can look forward to seven additional maps (some new, some remastered), one “licensed” (that is to say, a crossover from another IP) operator per season, a new Halloween event, and more. As for Warzone, expect another small map to be added alongside Season 4.

Interestingly, the leaked info also makes reference to a Call of Duty project codenamed “Jupiter,” which is most likely the new full premium CoD title from Sledgehammer Games now rumored to be coming out in 2023. The following Jupiter-related dates are listed…

Jupiter “GL4” runs from April 7 to April 28Jupiter Alpha runs from May 26 to June 2Jupiter “GL5” runs from June 9 to June 30While the Jupiter alpha is pretty self-explanatory, it’s unclear what the “GL4” and “GL5” listings might mean. Perhaps they indicate some sort of internal testing, but we don’t know. Henderson has since seen the full leaked documents, and according to him, they also make reference to a project codenamed Cerberus, which is likely 2024’s Treyarch-developed CoD.

Of course, none of this information has come through official channels. The breach occurred in early December, so there’s a chance some plans have already changed. Take any specific piece of information with a grain of salt.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0 can be played on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, and PS5. Season 2 of both games recently launched.
