The Destiny 2 Warmind DLC is being advertised as an expansion with new and separate content, but it appears that Bungie has actually been reusing the expansion’s campaign levels for its Strikes.
The Warmind expansion for Destiny 2 released yesterday and is said to offer a new story campaign and two new strikes, including The Will of Thousands and Strange Terrain, but players are claiming that these two strikes are literally the last two campaign levels. PlayStation 4 players have access to an exclusive strike, Insight Terminus, and it seems that this is actually the only original new strike in the expansion.
In addition, Warmind’s ‘new’ story campaign levels has players return to the European Dead Zone to a lost sector that was already included in the main game. On top of that, players are reporting that the game’s campaign then follows through with reused assets of Mars.
Quite disappointing for a $20 expansion, especially if you consider that Activision expressed to have high hopes for it.
“We are excited about the future of the Destiny franchise. Together, as partners with Bungie, we have taken various steps to create a dialogue between those who make the game, and those who play.” said Byron Beede, executive vice president and general manager for Destiny at Activision. He added, “Warmind represents another step toward bringing the Destiny 2 hobby back to our dedicated players.”
“Since the launch of Destiny, we have played alongside and seen our amazingly passionate fans help evolve our universe. With Warmind, we want to show we are actively listening to the global community and that we are also committed to respecting players’ time in game. We know many of our fans have expressed a need for deeper endgame activities in Destiny 2, with more meaningful rewards, and we are excited to continue to improve that experience for them with this release,” said Sam Jones, project lead at Bungie.
It appears that there’s no stopping to the Destiny 2 train wreck. What are your thoughts on this? Hit the comments below.
