Brendan ‘PLAYERUNKNOWN’ Greene Hints at PUBG Physical Release for Xbox One-November 2024
Nov 29, 2024 5:42 PM

Brendan Greene, the creator of PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS (PUBG) has hinted a physical Xbox One release.

Greene, PLAYERUNKNOWN himself, hinted at this during an interview with IGN during TwitchCon. You can check out the interview below:

In the interview, the creator of the multiplayer battle-royale also said that he rather sees the game as service rather than developing a sequel. "We still want to polish and refine, add more maps, add more assets," he said.

PUBG was released for PC in early-access back in March of this year, and has been selling insanely well ever since. The game became the first-ever Steam game to top 2 million concurrent players, and managed to sell more than 10 million copies within 6 months.

During Microsoft’s E3 2017 press conference it was announced that PUBG will also release for Xbox One later this year through the platform’s Game Preview program. “Our goal is to deliver the best Battle Royale experience to a global audience and our partnership with Microsoft will allow us to do just that,” said Chang Han Kim, VP of Bluehole, Inc and Executive Producer for PUBG. “This partnership with Microsoft will accelerate the development and delivery of PUBG to console players around the world as we utilize their vast resources and impressive technical, sales and marketing expertise.”

“I couldn’t be more excited to be working with the team at Bluehole to bring Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds exclusively to our players on Xbox One this year,” said Phil Spencer, Head of Xbox. “We’ve been huge fans since the very earliest days, and worked hard to bring the game successfully to our E3 briefing. The announcement of our publishing the game on console today is an evolution of the strong partnership we’ve been building over many months.”

An exact release date for PUBG on Xbox One isn’t known, but based on the developer's 2017 roadmap, don’t expect it to release before this December.
