In a new interview, Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan speaks at length with Entertainment Weekly about 99.1% Pure: Breaking Bad Art, an upcoming "stash of incredible art inspired by Breaking Bad." The book, which will be released August 17 via Insight Editions and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, features over 150 works from around the world personally curated by Gilligan and spans 232 pages.
"It is the ultimate compliment," Gilligan said in the interview. "But I didn't realize that it really is the highest compliment until I was actually writing the introduction for this book. It dawned on me: What better compliment is there than art being inspired by something I had a hand in?"

Gilligan, who has always been known to be humble and even downplay Breaking Bad's success from the very beginning, said he's "proud of every award that this show has ever won or been nominated for" but that "there's something altogether different about the idea of an artist--somewhere in Egypt or somewhere in China or somewhere in Eastern Europe… was aware of Breaking Bad [and creating art]."
The interview goes pretty wide and deep in discussing the fan tributes that both did and didn't make it into this collection. It's well worth your time to click over and read the full Q&A, plus get a chance to glance a couple pieces of art that will be featured in 99.1% Pure.
The Breaking Bad spin-off Better Call Saul, meanwhile, is now in production of its sixth and final season. Star Bob Odenkirk recently said that even he has no idea how the show will end. All that's known is a dramatic conclusion with lots of violence awaits.
