Bleem, LLC's first and only product, bleem!, a PC-based PlayStation emulator, has been released to more than 500 national retailers. The software is being distributed by Navarre Corporation and should be on shelves at CompUSA, Fry's Electronics, Hastings, and Virgin Megastores.
For the uninitiated, the software allows any PC owner the option to play original PlayStation games without owning a PlayStation. While the massive library of games has made the software amazingly popular after selling about 20,000 copies on the web through its own web site, game graphics are greatly enhanced by the current generation of 3D accelerators.
Sony has attempted to halt Bleem's efforts to release its namesake software twice with no success. Sony claims that the emulation software infringes on its product, while Bleem claims it has done no wrong - the courts have sided with Bleem in both cases.
The retail version of bleem! sells for US$29.99. Minimum specs for running the emulation software are Win 95/98, a Pentium 166MHz, 16MB RAM, and only 3MB of space.
