Blade Runner TV Show Is In Development, Ridley Scott Confirms-October 2024
Oct 22, 2024 6:34 AM

Director Ridley Scott has announced that a Blade Runner TV series is in development. The filmmaker has revealed that a pilot has been written for the show based on the classic sci-fi movie.

In an interview with the BBC, Scott suggested that the potential Blade Runner show would be a 10-episode series. "We [have] written the pilot for Blade Runner and the bible," he said. "So, we're already presenting Blade Runner as a TV show, the first 10 hours."

No further details about the series have been revealed so far. Scott directed the original 1982 Blade Runner and produced Denis Villeneuve's 2017 sequel, Blade Runner 2047. The anime series Blade Runner: Black Lotus was released earlier this month by Adult Swim and Crunchyroll.

Scott also mentioned the upcoming Alien TV show in the same interview. He stated that the pilot for that had also been written, as well as treatment for 8-10 hours of episodes. The Alien series was announced by Disney in December last year. Noah Hawley (Fargo, Legion) will be the showrunner, and unlike previous Alien movies, it will be set on Earth.

In a recent interview, Hawley confirmed that he wouldn't be recasting the character of Ellen Ripley, played by Sigourney Weaver in the films. "It's not a Ripley story," he said. "She's one of the great characters of all time, and I think the story has been told pretty perfectly, and I don't want to mess with it."
