The Marvel movie Black Widow will be available for all Disney+ subscribers beginning October 6. The film was previously only available on the service as a Premier Access title for an additional charge.
Marvel also released a new trailer to promote Black Widow's arrival on Disney+. It's a light-hearted promo that focuses on the banter between Natasha (Scarlett Johansson), Yelena (Florence Pugh), and Alexei (David Harbour), while also showcasing some of the movie's spectacular action. Check it out below:
Black Widow arrived in theaters and on Premier Access back in July. The film had been delayed from its original May 2020 release date and was one of several movies this year that Disney has made available for streaming on the day they hit theaters. Although the movie had a very impressive opening weekend at the box office, it suffered a huge drop-off in its second week, which some theaters owners blamed on the decision to release it on Disney+.
The movie's release onto regular Disney+ coincides with a settlement in the lawsuit between Johansson and Disney. The star sued the studio in late July, claiming that its decision to give Black Widow a simultaneous streaming release massively reduced her potential earnings from the film. Details of the settlement haven't been revealed, but it seems that Johansson is still on board to star in the studio's upcoming theme park attraction adaptation Tower of Terror.
The next Marvel movie will be Eternals, which hits theaters on November 5. That will be followed by Spider-Man: No Way Home, which releases in December. In addition, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings arrives on Disney+ on November 12.
