Dwayne Johnson's highly anticipated DC superhero film, Black Adam, has added yet another cast member, The Hollywood Reporter has announced. Marwan Kenzari, who played Joe in The Old Guard, has signed on to play a mystery role.

　　Kenzari is the most recent in a long list of supporting cast members, including Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, and Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone. The movie will feature the Justice Society of America, of which these heroes have all been members in DC comics history. However, knowing this we can make some guesses about Kenzari's role--Doctor Fate seems like a very likely pull.

　　Doctor Fate has had many incarnations over the years since the mantle was first introduced back in 1973. The most recent, however, is a man named Khalid Nassour, a medical student granted powers by a magical statue of the Egyptian goddess Bastet. This incarnation of Doctor Fate had his own solo comic series that ran for 18 issues between 2015 and 2016.

　　Last year's DC Fandome event teased concept art of Johnson in full Black Adam regalia where the actor also explained that Adam has a "strict sense of morality" that doesn't "always align" with the members of the JSA.

　　Black Adam's plot is being kept strictly underwraps and is looking towards an April start for production. The project will be directed by Jaume Collet-Serra who worked with Johnson on the upcoming Jungle Cruise feature as well. The film does not have a set release date, but was originally on the docket for December of 2021 before COVID-19 production delays.
