Electronic Arts' upcoming third-person action game Dante's Inferno may take place in the bowels of hell, but the publisher is doing what it can to keep the game's soundtrack from being torturous. Today, EA announced award-winning composer Garry Schyman has been tapped to provide the score for Visceral Games' Dante's Inferno, which is due to arrive for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PSP on February 9.
Garry Schyman Schyman is perhaps best known for his work composing the immersive soundtrack for Take-Two's dystopian shooter BioShock, which won Outstanding Achievement in Sound Design at the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences' Interactive Achievement Awards in 2008. Other games Schyman has been, or will be, credited with include Square Enix's Front Mission Evolved, Take-Two's BioShock 2, and Sony's Resistance: Retribution.
The score for Dante's Inferno was recorded by the Philharmonia Orchestra and the Metro Voices Singers at London's Abbey Road Studios, which was made famous as the recording location of choice for The Beatles. The soundtrack is expected to be released as a stand-alone album in early 2010.
