Actor Bill Murray has become the latest big name to get involved with NFTs. The Ghostbusters and Caddyshack actor is partnering with The Chive to launch "Bill Murray Stories" as blockchain collectibles, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The currency is called Official Bill Murray NFT 1000, and each will have an "exclusive" Murray graphic and text that tells a story or anecdote that Murray has said himself or revealed to The Chive for this campaign.
The Chive's John Resig said the idea for this NFT project came from a conversation with Murray where the actor teased that he had a great many fun anecdotes to share.
"I asked Bill's thoughts about all the Bill Murray stories swirling about. Bill gave a surprisingly candid answer, 'I like them just fine, I was even present for a few.' Bill leaned in with that mischievous twinkle in his eye, 'But there are more stories out there, better stories,'" Resig said.
Resig said Murray told him the time was never right or he never had the right "storytelling vehicle" like a documentary or a biography, and that he didn't want to dish his stories on social media either. So the solution, it seems, was to turn these stories into NFTs for people to buy.
More details on the Bill Murray NFTs will be announced later, along with a "hero image" of Murray drawn by David Grizzle for the tokens themselves, which will be sold through Coinbase's upcoming NFT marketplace. Revenue from the first token sold will go to charity.
