Big Game Hunting in Chiba
Big Game Hunting in Chiba-October 2024
Oct 23, 2024 6:27 AM

TOKYO - The high-profile games to be shown at the 1998 Spring Tokyo Game Show in Chiba, Japan, come as no real surprise. Here's a list of the big titles we know about today - but just remember, there are bound to be new games unveiled for the first time that we don't know about yet.

  Here are the big titles:

Parasite Eve(PS, Square)Square's cinematic RPG will finally take center stage, just days before its Japanese release date. Little known in the US except to those Square fans and die-hard RPG addicts, Parasite Eve will take its place next to Brave Fencer Musashiden as a cornerstone of Square's booth.

Brave Fencer Musashiden(PS, Square)Square's Zelda-killer will no doubt also be big news at TGS. Aiming squarely for the 3D action/RPG market, it looks as if Square has come up with a title that will spawn a couple of sequels if everything goes well.

Tekken 3(PS, Namco)The fighting game that everyone's waiting to play will now be on public display. With a release date next week, the game is undoubtedly one of the biggest this spring. Check out our feature preview for more information on this remarkable arcade port.

Rival Schools United by Fate(PS, Capcom)Capcom's next 3D fighting game for the PlayStation is coming along quite nicely and will be present at TGS tomorrow.

Sakura Taisen 2(SS, Sega)The sequel to the hugely successful mech-strategy-fighting-RPG-and-dating sim comes out April 4, but will take a majority of the Sega booth pie, according to sources. While the original was never released in the US, this sequel has a good chance to be a big hit in Japan.

Shining Force 3 Scenario 2(SS, Sega)The second in the Shining Force III trilogy, this is also expected to be a marquee game for Sega.

Metal Gear Solid(PS, Konami)Perhaps what everyone from the US press is really looking forward to - playing Metal Gear Solid. Konami's expected to make a big showing with MGS.

Vampire Savior(SS, Capcom)Capcom's latest fighting game in the Darkstalkers/Vampire series is Vampire Savior, which uses the 4MB RAM cart.

See you tomorrow! Make sure you keep tuned to videogames.com for complete coverage of the Tokyo Game Show, beginning tomorrow.
