The Big Bang Theory is officially coming to an end. It was announced today that the hugely popular CBS show will end after its upcoming 12th season.
In a statement posted on Twitter, CBS, Warner Bros. TV, and Chuck Lorre Productions said, "We are forever grateful to our fans for their support of The Big Bang Theory during the past twelve seasons. We, along with the cast, writers, and crew, are extremely appreciative of the show's success and aim to deliver a final season, and series finale, that will bring The Big Bang Theory to an epic creative close."

Star Kaley Cuoco addressed the end of The Big Bang Theory in an emotional post on Instagram where she said she is "drowning in tears" over the announcement.
"This ride has been a dream come true and as life changing as it gets," she wrote. "No matter when it was going to end , my heart would have always been broken in two. Drowning in tears, we promise to bring you the best season yet. To the fans, our crew, families, Chuck Lorre, Warner Brothers , CBS, and everyone who has supported us for so many years, thank you. We are goin out with a bang."
The Big Bang Theory Season 12 premieres in September. There were reportedly discussions about a 13th season, but they never materialised. The five original actors are set to make around $900,000 per episode for the upcoming 12th season, according to Variety.
Season 11 averaged 14 million viewers per episode, making it one of the most popular shows on TV, according to Variety. A spinoff, Young Sheldon, premiered in 2017.
In other news, Home Alone actor Macaulay Culkin says he was pursed for a part in The Big Bang Theory years ago but he turned it down multiple times.
