Beyond Good And Evil 2 has been in development for so long that it is easy to forget that the game is actually in the works. While reports from last year suggested that development may have reached important milestones, things seem not as good as one would have hoped.
According to a new report from Kotaku, Ubisoft Montpellier's managing director Guillaume Carmona left the company after a period of absence. Additionally, the studio is under a labor investigation due to members of the studio experiencing burnout and going on sick leave.
While Ubisoft did not confirm the departure of Beyond Good And Evil 2's managing director outright, although the report says that members of the development studio had been told about it last week, the company did confirm some of the issues happening at the studio, with a representative telling Kotaku that the team's well-being is an ongoing priority and that it is undergoing assessments through a third-party for "preventative measures and to evaluate where additional support may be needed."
With so many issues, it's looking less and less likely that Beyond Good And Evil 2 will launch in the near future. Last year, it was reported internal playtesting had begun, hinting that things were moving along, but with the new shake-up at the development studio, it's clear how development is continuing to be just as troubled as it has been since the game's announcement announcement.
Beyond Good And Evil 2 is currently in development for yet-to-be-confirmed platforms. We will let you know about the game as soon as more come in on it, so stay tuned for all the latest news.
