It seems that Bethesda’s game director, Todd Howard, has just confirmed that Skyrim is indeed coming to the Nintendo Switch.
While Skyrim was displayed running on the Nintendo Switch during its reveal last month, Bethesda didn’t confirm that Skyrim would indeed be released on Nintendo’s new platform. On top of that, Nintendo stated that the video did not necessarily represent actual game footage.
It now appears, however, that game director Todd Howard confirmed a Switch release in a recent interview with Glixel. In the interview, Howard talked about VR, the Nintendo Switch, Elder Scrolls, and Fallout 4.
Bethesda has announced that it will be supporting the Nintendo Switch, and in the Glixel interview, Howard praises Nintendo’s upcoming new platform. According to the game director, he played the Nintendo Switch and he loved it.
“I love it. I got to play it. I will tell you – well, maybe that's an N.D.A. thing. One of the best demos I've ever seen. Probably the best demo I've ever seen. At E3”, Howard said.
“I mean the device itself. I think it's really smart what they're doing. We're definitely going to be supporting it. It's the first time we've done something on Nintendo. If you don't count the old NES stuff. Home Alone. Or Where's Waldo?”
When asked about Skyrim on the Switch and whether the game could be brought with you on the go, Howard confirmed the Skyrim Switch port.
“It's the same game on the TV and on the other screen”, Howard said.
Judging from Howard’s answer, Skyrim will indeed release on the Switch, and recent rumors claim that the game will be a Switch launch title when the platform launches in March.
Nintendo will provide more details on the Nintendo Switch in January during a special Nintendo Switch Presentation, including lineup, pricing and more.
