Bethesda Softworks announced today that it will publish Black & White for the PlayStation. The game is a port of the critically acclaimed and award-winning PC game, which successfully blended elements of real-time strategy, classic god simulations, and creature-raising games. Players took on the role of an omnipotent deity who tends to the interests of previously godless islanders by means of divine magic and the physical intervention of powerful anthropomorphic avatars. Players were able to bestow magical powers upon these avatars, as well as mold their temperament through positive and negative reinforcement. The creatures' demeanors could thus range from bloodthirsty and murderous to helpful and benevolent.

　　Black & White was originally developed by Lionhead Studios, the development house founded by renowned game designer Peter Molyneux. The game is scheduled to be released this fall.
