Ben Affleck has revealed the working title for his upcoming Batman movie. The actor, who is set to star in, co-write, and direct the standalone movie, has stated that it is currently called The Batman.

　　Speaking to the Associated Press to promote his latest film The Accountant, Affleck said: "The movie I think is going to be called The Batman. At least that's what we're going with now. I might change it.

　　"We're working on the script," he added, via The Hollywood Reporter. "The script is going well. I'm really excited about it."

　　Last week, Time Warner CEO Jeff Bewkes stated that The Batman was "a year and a half out." It is unclear if Bewkes was referring to a release of the Batman movie in 18 months time, or whether that would be when production begins. However, given the DC schedule already has films lined up until 2020, it seems unlikely that The Batman would be released in 2018.

　　In August, Affleck released some early test footage of Deathstroke, who is confirmed as the villain in The Batman. A week later, it was confirmed that Joe Manganiello had been cast in the role.

　　Affleck has also addressed the criticism of this year's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, in which he made his debut as the Caped Crusader. "It was judged not necessarily on execution so much as on its tone," he told a local Fox affiliate TV station in Washington, D.C., as reported by Entertainment Weekly. "People seemed to want to have a lighter tone to the movie, and I thought that was interesting because it's subjective.

　　"Tone is not a qualitative thing. It's subjective, right? Some tones resonate with me that might not with you."
