Battlefield V PC Closed Alpha Begins Tomorrow; System Requirements Revealed, No NDA in Place-September 2024
Sep 21, 2024 4:14 PM

DICE revealed today that a PC Closed Alpha for Battlefield V will be available tomorrow for a small, select group of Battlefield players who will be invited. The good news is that there won't be any Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) in place, so we'll all get to see a lot of new gameplay footage from this build of the game (which is not the same Kai was able to try at EA Play earlier this month).

DICE also provided preliminary system requirements for the Closed Alpha of Battlefield V, which may or may not change for the final release of the game (scheduled for October 19th, unless you opt for an early access version). Below you can find those as well as the content (modes, maps, classes, gadgets) that will be available for this pre-release test.

  Minimum requirements:

Operating System: 64-bit Windows 7,  Windows 8.1 or Windows 10Processor (AMD): AMD FX-8350Processor (Intel): Core i5  6600KMemory: 8GB RAMGraphics card (NVIDIA): NVIDIA GeForce® GTX 1050 / GTX 660 2GBGraphics card (AMD): AMD Radeon™ HD 7850 2GBDirectX version: 11.0 Compatible video card or equivalentInternet: 512 KBPS or faster,  stable Internet connectionFree hard-drive space: 50GBRecommended specifications:

Operating System: 64-bit Windows 10Processor (AMD): AMD Ryzen 3 1300XProcessor (Intel): Intel Core  i7 4790 or equivalentMemory: 16GB RAM 12GB RAMGraphics card (NVIDIA): NVIDIA GeForce® GTX  1060 3GBGraphics card (AMD): AMD Radeon™ RX 480 4GBDirectX: 11.1 Compatible video  card or equivalentInternet: 512 KBPS or faster,  stable Internet connectionFree hard drive space: 50GBWhat Modes and Maps will the Closed Alpha Contain?

If you get invited, you can tackle Conquest mode or the Grand Operation Fall of Norway. Taking place on the map Arctic Fjord, Fall of Norway lets you experience two of its in-game “days” and play two of the modes that the Grand Operation strings together: Airborne and Breakthrough.

Playing Airborne, you’ll either paradrop down to the battlefield to deal with enemy artillery, or fight to counter this attack if you’re on the other team. In the frantic fights of Breakthrough, you must capture sectors as an attacker or keep the opposition at bay through on-the-fly planning.

As for Conquest – this is the timeless Battlefield classic where two teams use infantry and vehicular combat to seize a majority control of key control points.

Are There In-Game Challenges and Rewards?

Yes, during the Closed Alpha you can take on one Special Assignment and several Daily Orders. The former consists of a series of in-game tasks, challenging your various skills on the battlefield. Complete the Special Assignment, and you'll earn a Battlefield V Dog Tag which will be added to your profile if you buy the full game once it's released. Note that for the Special Assignment to be tracked, you need to activate it via the “ASSIGNMENTS” tab in the main menu.

As the name suggests, Daily Orders are small challenges that are swapped out daily. They can for example challenge you to damage enemy vehicles or kill enemies of a certain class. In the Closed Alpha, there won't be any rewards for completing these, but that is the plan for the full game.

Is the Closed Alpha the Same as the EA PLAY Build of Battlefield V?

No. It is similar, but we've added Conquest mode, the aforementioned Special Assignment, and the possibility to call in Reinforcements manually. Also, the (very) snowy weather on Arctic Fjord present at EA PLAY has been toned down for the Closed Alpha.
