　　The surprise launch of the Battlefield Hardline beta today has proven to be problematic for Origin: Some users have been locked out of the service, while others have been prevented from downloading anything, including the Hardline beta.

　　During its E3 press conference this afternoon, Electronic Arts announced that it was launching a beta for Hardline on both PC and the PlayStation 4. Sign-ups are currently available on Battlefield's website and through the PS4 itself for those who own Battlefield 4.

　　However, issues are being reported on both the PC and PS4. Users are reporting error messages when attempting to gain access to the beta on the PS4, while those on PC are experiencing a wide variety of errors. Some are unable to log in to Origin altogether, being told it's experiencing "technical difficulties." Others, myself included, can get in, but are unable to initiate downloads on any Origin content they own (and some can't see their games). Others still say they don't see the beta listed in their libraries after logging into Origin, leaving them unable to even attempt to download it.

　　Contacted for comment regarding the issues, EA told GameSpot, "Signup for the Battlefield Hardline beta is experiencing issues due to high demand. We are aware of this and working on a solution." GameSpot has also contacted Sony regarding the issues on PS4.

　　Despite initially being considered by many an unnecessary Steam copycat, EA has been working for years to gain acceptance for Origin. Most recently, it's begun giving away a free game every month, including Plants vs. Zombies, Dead Space, and Battlefield 3.
