DICE is currently rolling out a new Battlefield 4 PlayStation 4 game update that aims to fix the "one-hit kill" bug that users are reporting, the developer announced today on its forums. The Swedish studio cautioned that you might be booted from an ongoing game before you can reconnect to the new server versions where the patch is applied.
The "one-hit kill" bug is an issue where damage from a single bullet sometimes was applied multiple times, meaning some players were killed with one shot instead of the normal number. This bug is not to be confused with another issue that players are reporting, where they run around a corner of a building or structure and say they die instantly.
"It is important to understand that this is not the 'one-hit kill' bug, that is another issue that we are working on addressing," DICE said. "We use a term called Interpolation in reference to where you are in the game world. There are instances where the death camera is initiated before the correct internet packets have arrived to be interpolated by your camera. This gives the impression that you were killed by 'one shot' as someone came around the corner of a building. We have identified this issue and will address it in upcoming updates."
The Battlefield 4 PS4 patch released today also fixes a crash that could occur when you have a "very large amount of Friends"; it also enables audio in PS4 video captures, DICE said.
DICE said it pushed this latest update out "as quickly as possible" so as to ameliorate the "one-hit kill" bug expeditiously. The studio is now working on the next PS4 update that promises to bring "more fixes and have a bigger focus on game stability."
A game update for the PlayStation 3 version of Battlefield 4 is also launching today, DICE announced. This patch is primarily focused on increasing game stability and features a number of crash fixes. It also addresses the "one-shot kill" bug. Check out the full patch notes for more.
Yesterday, DICE addressed the numerous issues besetting multiple versions of Battlefield 4, saying, "We will not stop until this is right." To that end, DICE has halted work on all future projects and Battlefield 4 expansions until the issues are remedied.
