Last month, Purple Moon Software, a company focused on building games for preteen girls, closed down due to competition from such major competitors like Mattel and its Barbie line of PC games. In an apparent philanthropic business move, Mattel announced on Thursday that it will acquire Purple Moon for an undisclosed amount.
Purple Moon's site and its three original game characters will be merge into the company's Mattel Media division.
