Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden Delayed to February to Avoid November’s Packed Schedule-November 2024
Nov 25, 2024 5:27 AM

French developer DON'T NOD (Life Is Strange, Vampyr, Tell Me Why, Twin Mirror) announced the delay of Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, its upcoming action RPG.

The game was supposed to launch on November 7th but has now been delayed to February 13th, 2024. According to DON'T NOD, it's because of November's packed release schedule, as the game is otherwise ready.

DON'T NOD CEO Oskar Guilbert and Focus Home Entertainment Managing Director John Bert released the following joint statement:

We have decided to postpone the release of this new franchise by three months, as the market is experiencing an intense release cycle for AAA titles on PC and consoles at the end of the year. We are convinced that a commercial release of Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden during a less saturated period will give it the attention it deserves.

The thing is, the new release schedule seems just as bad. In late January, we have SEGA launching Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth and Bandai Namco releasing Tekken 8. Then, February is nearly as packed as October:

Granblue Fantasy: Relink (February 1st)Suicide Squad: Justice League (February 2nd)Persona 3 Reload (February 2nd)Helldivers II (February 8th)Tomb Raider I-III Remastered Starring Lara Croft (February 14th)Mario vs. Donkey Kong (February 16th)Nightingale (early access, February 22nd)Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth (February 29th)Homeworld 3 (TBA February)Still, at least we can assume the game will be more refined with the extra three months of development.

Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden follows two ghost hunter lovers, Antea Duarte and Red mac Raith, practicing their profession in the North American wilds circa 1695. Antea is however fatally wounded and becomes a spirit, with Red hellbent on finding a way to bring her back. As usual with DON'T NOD games, choices made by players will be pivotal to the plot.
