Treasure's Bangai-O series of arcade-style shooters is known for its near-constant barrage of explosions, but the flow of new titles in the franchise has been decidedly less impressive.
In the past 11 years, Bangai-O has seen only three games released: the Japan-exclusive Nintendo 64 original, a 2001 Dreamcast remake, and 2008's Bangai-O Spirits. D3Publisher today took a step to address that shortage, announcing that it would release Bangai-O HD: Missile Fury for Xbox Live Arcade this fall, with Treasure once again handling the game's development.
Like 2008's Bangai-O Spirits on the DS (pictured), Missile Fury will feature plenty of explosions. Like Bangai-O Spirits (the first installment published by D3), Missile Fury will mix arcade shooter action with puzzle-solving gameplay. Also like that title, Missile Fury feature more than 100 stages and a level editor tool that lets users create and share with friends. Missile Fury should sport high-definition graphics and a more straightforward sharing mechanism than its predecessor, which allowed players to convert their levels into an audio file that could be received and translated through another DS's microphone.
When it arrives, Missile Fury will sell for 800 Microsoft points ($10). For more on D3Publisher's first go-around with the series, check out GameSpot's review of Bangai-O Spirits.
