Taking to Twitter some hours ago, Larian Studios' Creative Director Swen Vincke shared a short Baldur's Gate 3 update roadmap.
Since the public release of Baldur's Gate 3 on PC earlier this month, developer Larian has released several hotfixes for the successful cRPG. The most recent hotfix (hotfix #3) was released some days ago and included well over 200 bug fixes. As now shared by Vincke, the team is currently working on yet another hotfix before releasing the game's first official 'patch', which is said to include more than 1000 fixes as well as tweaks. Following the release of patch #1, the team intends to release the game's second update, which will include "some" community requests.
"We're all very enthused by your feedback", the Creative Director wrote on Twitter. "It's very rewarding. Our focus now is fixing any issues you report, but we are listening to suggestions. Current roadmap: a) Hotfix 4, b) Patch 1 (+1000 fixes and tweaks), c) Patch 2. The latter will already incorporate some requests."
No additional details about the release times of hotfix #4 and the upcoming patches have been provided, but going by the speed at which Larian has been releasing hotfixes since the game's release two weeks ago, it's likely that the fourth hotfix will be rolled out shortly. Some days ago, in a community update, the Belgian studio said that the team is working "toward" the game's "first serious patch". "As we continue to look forward, releasing hotfixes and working toward our first serious patch, we also decided to look backwards this week", Larian wrote. "We’ve cooked up some statistics highlighting data from the opening weekend following launch and prepared a handy infographic outlining player choices, actions, deaths, and the like. Some inspiration as we head into our second weekend, if you will."
Baldur's Gate is available globally now for PC. The PS5 version is releasing next month on September 6. The team is also working on an Xbox Series version, but this version requires some additional work.
Here's what we wrote about the third Baldur's Gate entry in our launch review: "Before release, Baldur's Gate 3 promised to be an extremely good cRPG, but Larian Studios exceeded all expectations by creating one of the best games of the past five years. The huge amount of possibilities given to the player, combined with excellent story and characters, solid turn-based combat and tons of replayability, make the journey to save your characters from the mind flayers' tadpoles one that has to be experienced by all those who have even just a remote interest in role-playing games."
