Baldur’s Gate 3 Mod Replaces DLSS 2 with FSR 2, Greatly Reducing Aliasing for Non-RTX Users Over FSR 1-December 2024
Dec 20, 2024 1:12 AM

The Baldur's Gate 3 modding community continues to deliver. We've recently published an article dedicated to the best mods for Larian's new record-breaking cRPG masterpiece, and every day there's something worth adding to the list. Today, it's a DLSS 2 to FSR 2 mod based on the 'CyberFSR2' framework originally established by PotatoOfDoom for Cyberpunk 2077.

Baldur's Gate 3 currently only supports NVIDIA DLSS 2/DLAA and AMD FSR 1.0. However, the first iteration of FSR has several shortcomings since it is merely a spatial upscaler based on the Lanczos algorithm, whereas FSR 2 is a proper temporal upscaler that uses motion vectors and frame history to deliver far superior image quality.

While Larian Studios said the native implementation of AMD FSR 2 is close by (it is expected to launch near the September 6th PS5 launch of the game), this isn't the kind of game that people can just add to their backlogs and postpone playing until that happens. If you don't own a GeForce RTX graphics card, the DLSS 2 to FSR 2 Baldur's Gate 3 mod uploaded by mandruis7 offers a way to greatly reduce aliasing compared to FSR 1.

The current implementation in Baldur's Gate 3 is not perfect, introducing a bit of ghosting in the process, but it's a tradeoff many would likely take. Take a look at the image comparisons below to assess the difference for yourselves.
