Baldur’s Gate 3 Might Be About to Get Honor Mode Difficulty-November 2024
Nov 25, 2024 2:45 PM

Baldur's Gate 3 has already received many updates and improvements since its early August launch, thanks to four major patches and several smaller hotfixes.

The community is always eager to spot what may be coming next. Over the weekend, Reddit user  W0lferino93 shared an image of a new achievement that appeared on GOG. Titled Foehammer, it would be rewarded for completing the game in Honor Mode, except there currently is no such a mode.

Larian fans are certainly familiar with the mode. In Divinity: Original Sin 2, it's a modifier that can be applied to any difficulty. Akin to 'Iron Man' in other games, it restricts the playthrough to a single save which is automatically deleted if the entire party is defeated. Chances are it'll work similarly if not identically in Baldur's Gate 3, although we'll have to wait for its official announcement to know for sure.

In other news, a rumor spread on Saturday that Larian had nailed down a December 6th release date for the Xbox version of the game. However, Director of Publishing Michael Douse debunked the news with the following statement:

We’ll know the release date once we’re confident in the release version. The plan is still before the end of the year. The key takeaway here should be that we want a really good version that Xbox fans deserve. This means we’ll work on it until we’re happy to release it.

Last week, Larian CEO Swen Vincke said that Baldur's Gate 3 was being playtested on Xbox with a launch date still planned before the end of 2023. As you might recall, the game didn't launch alongside the PlayStation 5 version due to the Xbox Series S hardware being unable to support split-screen co-op. Eventually, after a Gamescom 2023 meeting with Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer himself, Larian received the green light to ship Baldur's Gate 3 without feature parity with the Xbox Series X version, though Microsoft has since said it'll keep trying to make it work on the Xbox Series S, too.
