The PlayStation 3 may not have drawn in the crowds at its midnight launch in Australia last week, but it drew them in where it counts the most--at retailers. Sony's new console had an extremely strong debut in the Australian game sales charts, with seven out of the overall top 10 being PS3 titles.
Resistance: Fall of Man was both the top-selling PS3 and overall best-selling title in the charts for the week of March 19 to March 25, according to data trackers GfK Australia. It was practically an all-Sony affair in the overall top 10--in addition to seven PS3 titles, Final Fantasy XII for the PS2 managed to stay strong by holding on to the fifth spot this week. The only non-PlayStation entrants were The Sims 2: Seasons and S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow of Chernobyl for the PC.
In the other charts, Crackdown continues to be dominant in the Xbox 360 lists, while Sonic and the Secret Rings landed at number one again in the Wii-specific charts.
