Overnight, Nintendo announced the final details for the North American and European release of the Nintendo 3DS. Landing on March 25 for Europe and the March 27 for the US, the stereoscopic 3D console will retail for $250/£229. A number of the 25 games that will be available at launch were also shown off to the press. Unfortunately, no Australian specific details were announced, leaving local gamers high and dry.
While it may not be the news that Aussie gamers are looking for, consider this a consolation prize: Nintendo Australia has just announced a 3DS press conference for February 8 in Sydney. GameSpot AU put a call into Nintendo and confirmed that Aussie pricing, dates, and console colors would all be outlined at the event.
The Nintendo 3DS was debuted at the 2010 Electronic Entertainment Expo and was the surprise hit of the show. Nintendo hit the Los Angeles convention center with dozens of production units showing off tech demos, attracting queues that saw punters wait well over two hours for a glimpse at the console.
