If you’re a fan of puzzle-solving games but have become tired of titles that ask you to solve problems with only a single correct answer in mind, then Scribblenauts may well be right up your alley. In it you take control of Maxwell, the rooster-hat-wearing main character who needs to solve the game’s 200 levels--which are broken up into action and puzzle scenarios--by typing in and using common and less conventional items. Scribblenauts is out exclusively on the Nintendo DS handheld this Wednesday.
Also out this week is the latest iteration of the beautiful game in video game form with FIFA 10. Building on the solid base of FIFA 09, this year’s version adds a stack of new features, including a completely reworked Manager mode, improved urgency clearance play, and one of the game’s most requested features: full 360-degree ball dribbling. FIFA 10 is out on every platform known to man, and you can take to the pitch and slide-tackle to your heart’s content this Thursday.
The other big release this week is Sony’s latest attempt at claiming a chunk of the growing handheld market. The PSP Go marks the fourth version of the PlayStation Portable released down under since 2005, and the new version ditches Sony’s proprietary Universal Media Disc (UMD) format in favour of digitally distributed content. It’s out on Thursday for A$449.95, and customers who purchase a console and redeem a voucher between now and October 10 will receive a free copy of Gran Turismo PSP to play.
