Atlas Fallen, the new game from The Surge and Lords of the Fallen creators Deck13, isn’t a full-on RPG, but it is chock full of sidequests and other optional content outside of its main campaign. So, this raises a question – is there content in Atlas Fallen you can miss out on? Or can you always double back and clean up any content you passed up on? Scroll on for the answer to that question…
Warning: This article contains information about the general structure of Atlas Fallen. No specific story info is revealed, but some may consider this info a minor spoiler.
So, are there things you can miss out on in Atlas? The answer is yes, you can actually miss out on quite a bit, which may deprive you of certain rewards and bits of backstory about the world.
While Atlas Fallen follows a “wide linear” structure with a series of largely open maps you're free to revisit, the way the world changes as the story progresses means you can only complete some tasks at specific points in the game. For instance, one of your big early tasks is helping evacuate people from the village of Castrum VII. Once you successfully do so, those NPCs are, naturally, no longer there and thus their accompanying sidequests and errands can’t be completed.
Basically, once you’re about to reach the end of a major story mission and it seems like you’re about to head to new map, you should take some time to clean up all the sidequests and errands there. Other tasks, like breaking Heavenly Shrines and taking down Watchtowers can be done anytime. It’s mainly quests tied to specific NPCs you have to worry about.
There you are, a simple answer to a simple question. Of course, you can always restart the game in order to experience anything you miss, but if you want to get everything in a single run, you should take your time and not get too ahead of yourself.
Atlas Fallen is available now on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5. You can check out Wccftech’s other Atlas Fallen guides here.
