Assassin's Creed is Ubisoft's crown jewel, and the company is now putting it to use to promote another one of its games. AirMech Arena, an RTS game for Xbox 360, received an update today that incorporates the most renowned aspect of Assassin's Creed: its mechs.
Arena is a free-to-play mech game originally released on 360 at the end of July. (There's also a PC version available simply called AirMech.) Today's update is its first since then, and it improves matchmaking, changes the lobby system, and fixes bugs, among other things. You can read the full patch notes here.
More interestingly, it also introduces the Assassin's Creed-themed Novi Aquilus Neo mech (pictured above and below, courtesy of Polygon). Although it might not directly resemble anything from Assassin's Creed (what with those games primarily taking place in the distant past), it does feature an assassin-like cloak ability.
Also new is the Abstergo Saucer, which in the game is said to be built by Abstergo Industries, the primary antagonists of the Assassin's Creed series. In addition, new Assassin's Creed-themed pets are now available: the Apple of Eden, the DNA Cube vial, and the Spirit Eagle.
Arena has reportedly attracted more than 1 million players so far, though we have no indication of how many of those players tried the game once and haven't been back. You can try it for yourself right now for free.
