Assassin's Creed Star Michael Fassbender Hopeful for a Sequel-November 2024
Nov 14, 2024 2:21 PM

Video games don't have the greatest track record when it comes to movie adaptations, but expectations are high for Assassin's Creed. The film is currently shooting in London with Michael Fassbender in the lead role, and the star recently spoke to Screen Daily about his hopes for the movie.

"We'll see how the first one does, but that's the idea," Fassbender said, when asked if he hoped the film would become a series. "The material and the landscape is so rich, there's definitely enough there for a franchise."

The actor plays two characters in the film, Callum and Aguilar, in two different time periods. It is being directed by Justin Kurzel, who recently helmed Macbeth, which also featured Fassbender in the lead role. His Macbeth co-star Marion Cotillard will appear, alongside Jeremy Irons, Brendan Gleeson, and Michael Kenneth Williams.

Earlier this, month Azaïzia Aymar, head of content for the franchise at Ubisoft, tweeted the first on-set image from the production, revealing the distinctive Abstergo Industries logo.

Assassin's Creed Syndicate, the latest game in the series, is released tomorrow (October 23). Click here for our review.
