2016 was the first year in a very long time to see no release of a new entry in the Assassin's Creed series, with Ubisoft deciding to take the time to push the series' boundaries forward and create the best possible game. No official announcement regarding the next Assassin's Creed game has been made, but a possible screenshot from this game has leaked online earlier today.
The leaked Assassin's Creed Empire screenshot, which can be found below, seems to confirm the ancient Egypt setting for the game.

As the screenshot comes from a mysterious source, we must avoid getting too excited about it, but the presence of what seems like the Assassin's insignia on the shield and the general character design seem to suggest that the screenshot could be real.
As mentioned above, no official announcement regarding the next Assassin's Creed game has been made. The only things we know regarding the game come from rumors, which revealed that Assassin's Creed Empire will be the beginning of a new trilogy and that it will come with features that will set it apart from the rest of the series.
The next Assassin's Creed is currently in development by Ubisoft, and an official announcement has yet to come in. We will keep you updated on the game as soon as more comes in on it, so stay tuned for all the latest news.
