Asia Shippin' Out Nov 13-19: Saints Row: The Third, AC: Revelations-October 2024
Oct 16, 2024 7:29 PM

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, it must be said that the month of November is a time when retail shelves will be flooded with a bountiful crop of titles, AAA or otherwise, for gamers to purchase and check out.

First up is the third entry in the Saints Row series of open-ended action titles. Saints Row: The Third pits your highly customizable leader of the Third Street Saints against the city as he or she incites anarchy in Steelport while fighting off gang members made up of Luchador wrestlers and cyberhackers. The game was recently praised for its outrageous story missions and activities but panned for its glitches and less-than-stellar visuals. For more information, check out GameSpot's full review.

Next up is Assassin's Creed: Revelations for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The open-world action adventure title chronicles the final tale of Assassin's Creed 2's protagonist Ezio Auditore da Firenze as he searches for a solution to end the ongoing Templar and Assassin war hidden within Constantinople. New single-player features include the addition of the hookblade, which speeds up navigation, and the skill to craft different types of bombs. Multiplayer additions include capture the flag and deathmatch.

Gamers wishing to add one more title to their 3DS collection can purchase Super Mario 3D Land right now since its release yesterday. The game was recently praised for its well-designed levels and slick controls but criticized for its limited StreetPass and gyrometer features. For more information, check out GameSpot's review of the title.

Capcom will be taking fighting game fans for a ride yet again, with Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 for the Xbox 360 and PS3. The updated version of Marvel vs. Capcom 3 features 12 new characters like Hawkeye and Phoenix Wright, as well as a new Heroes and Heralds mode, where players can customize their fighters with a gamut of abilities while representing either the defenders of Earth or the heralds of Galactus. GameSpot Asia will be holding a community game night on the title this Friday; Asian fans of fighting games can register for the game night.

Japanese role-playing game fans who can read Japanese should do well to also check out the Asian release of Ninokuni: Wrath of the White Witch. The RPG is a joint effort between game studio Level-5 and animation studio Studio Ghibli. The story pits a young child named Oliver in a quest to resurrect his recently deceased mother in a fantasy-themed alternate version of Earth called Ninokuni. The title will be exclusively for the PS3 and will be out this Thursday; the North American version is slated for an early 2012 release.

Lastly, Halo fans can replay the finished fight with the release of Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary. The game combines the single-player mode of the first Halo title with remastered graphics and multiplayer levels from the first game, using the Halo: Reach engine.
